Guiding farmers to Sustainability through land Ownership and Investment to achieve a fair Living wage.
Develop projects which work to empower farmers through resource access and education in order to break the poverty cycle and achieve sustainable living domestically and internationally.
Have you ever seen a farmer using a one-legged milking stool? Probably not. Many aid organizations focus on just one leg - education, resource access, investment, or others. Although these are all important areas, without the support of other legs, they may loose their footing. Our multi-tiered approach brings more stability to the farmer. We like the ability to sit down without toppling over.
The stability of our projects rests on investment. The investment is needed to acquire land fertile enough to root the project. The biggest challenge facing farmers today is land access both domestically and internationally. With a limited supply available and rising land prices, farmers can find it difficult to access the one thing they need to do their jobs. Therefore, the key focus of the organization is to bring land ownership back to the small scale farmer. Weeding out the profit driven corporations, and planting fertile seeds in the local economy is what we do best.
Homegrown will equip the farmer with education to help them better provide for themselves and their families. By teaching about sustainable and organic farming methods, we can help the farmers preserve the land and soil integrity. By having crop diversity, the farmers' risk is lowered in case of poor weather or other unforseen factors. The variety also contributes to better nutrition; bringing healthy growth to the community. We are all about the combination of traditional farming methods combined with the benefits of modern knowledge. Our focus is on planting the seed of knowledge within our communities.
Although 2 legs are more stable, there is no stability like that of 3. It ensures you have support no matter which way you lean. Resource access adds that last bit of stability for our farmers. Homegrown believes that farmers need to be provided with the tools they need to succeed. By providing seeds, farming supplies, and equipment, farmers can focus on achieving sustainable operations as quickly as possible. At Homegrown we are all about fertilizing our farmers growth.
